Sunday, January 1, 2012 On New Years Day a firefighter down drill was held at the station. the drill's main idea was to teach EMS personal how to efficently remove firefighters PPE in the worst case scenerio that leaves the firefighter unresponsive. The drill scenerio was 2 firefighters pulling a "down" firefighter through the doorway to an open area where EMs personal awaited. The only information availabe was that the firefighter collapesed inside the structure. EMS had to doff all of the firefighters PPE in order to administer proper first aid. The drill proved a successful learning experience for all. Hopefully it never has to be put to use. Thanks to Ivan Duffy for the Idea.

All over the area, trees and wires were down, power outages were occurring, and roads were being closed. It was then decided by Captain Fag an that additional EMS and Rescue staffing would be needed throughout the day and night. A dedicated 3 person rescue crew, and 2 EMS crews stood-by at station throughout the afternoon and night time to ensure a safe and quick response. The rescue crew also answered all EMS calls to assist the ambulance crews with any difficulties they may have encountered.
